මෙරට දැවැන්තම ආයෝජනය ලෙසින් සැලකෙන ත්‍රිකුණාමලයේ සාම්පූර්හි යෝජිත බැර කර්මාන්ත පුරය (Heavy Industry Zone) වෙනුවෙන් දිගු කාලීන කල්බදු පහසුකම මත බදු ඔප්පුවකින් ලබාදී තිබූ ඉඩම ලබාදීම අවලංගු කිරීමට ජනාධිපති මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේන මහතා විසින් පසුගියදා නිකුත් කර තිබූ ගැසට් පත්‍රය තාවකාලිකව අත්හිටුවීමට ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණය විසින් අතුරු නියෝගයක් (Interim relief) නිකුත් කරයි.

ඩොලර් බිලියන 04 ක පමණ ආයෝජනයක් සිදුකරනු ඇතැයි කියන මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතියේ ව්‍යාපෘති සමාගම වන Sri Lanka Gateway Industries විසින් ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණයට ඉදිරිපත් කළ පෙත්සමක් සලකා බැලූ රෝහිණී මාරසිංහ, බුවනෙක අළුවිහාරේ සහ උපාලි අබේරත්න යන ත්‍රි පුද්ගල විනිසුරු මඩුල්ල විසින් අද මෙම අතුරු නියෝගය නිකුත් කළේය.

මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය සිදුකිරීමට සැලසුම් කර තිබූ ඉඩම පසුගිය රජය විසින් ශ්‍රී ලංකා ආයෝජන මණ්ඩලයට පැවරූ අතර ආයෝජන මණ්ඩලය විසින් ව්‍යාපෘති සමාගමට දිගුකාලීන බදු ඔප්පුවකින් ඉඩම පවරා තිබුණි.

උපාය මාර්ගික සංවර්ධන ව්‍යාපෘති පනත (Strategic Development Projects Act) යටතේ 2013 ජනවාරි මාසයේදී පාර්ලිමේන්තු විවාදයකින් තොරව මෙම සමාගමට ව්‍යාපෘතිය සිදුකිරීම සඳහා තිබූ රජය විසින් අවසර ලබාදී ඇත.

2015 මැයි 07 වනදා ජනාධිපති මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේන මහතා විසින් ගැසට් පත්‍රයකින් මෙම ඉඩම ව්‍යපෘති සමාගමට පැවරීම අවලංගු කළේය.

මෙයට එරෙහිව ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණයට පෙත්සමක් ඉදිරිපත් කරමින් පෙත්සම්කරු වන Sri Lanka Gateway Industries නැමති ව්‍යාපෘති සමාගම මෙම ගැසට් පත්‍රය ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීම තාවකාලිකව නතර කිරීමට අතුරු නියෝගයක් ඉල්ලා සිටියේය.

මෙම නඩු විභාගය මැයි 21 වනදා දක්වා කල් දමා තිබෙන අතර තාවකාලික අතුරු නියෝගය ලබාදී තිබෙන්නේ ඒ දක්වායි.

Sri Lanka Gateway Industries (Private) Limited – (SLGI) පිළිබඳව ඔවුන්ගේ වෙබ් අඩවියේ තොරතුරු සඳහන් වන්නේ මෙසේයි.

Sri Lanka Gateway Industries (Private) Limited – (SLGI) was established in June 2010 to develop an Industrial Zone with necessary physical and social infrastructure, in a land extent of 36 sq.kms (9000 Acres), in Sampur in the Trincomalee District in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. This location was chosen after very careful scrutiny because the industries targeted for the proposed Industrial Zone require direct access to a dedicated and a deep water jetty to cater to Cape–Size vessels. The project location also has a vast stretch of un-inhabited land and is considered most suitable for this purpose.

Phase One of the project will comprise a Deep Water Jetty, Coal Stock Piling Yard for blending and trans-shipment, Power Plant and a Coke Plant. This will be within the 808 acres of the land already allocated and leased to SLGI by the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) through the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka. The total investment in Phase One will be US $ 700 million.

In Phase Two and Three, Heavy Industries like Steel Plant, Iron Ore Palletizing Plant, Manufacturing Plant and Machinery, Vehicles Manufacturing/Assembling Yard and some other Mega Industries will be developed. The total land area available for Phase Two and Three is in excess of 7500 Acres.

SLGI will also work with developers to establish complementary and compatible industries within the zone. SLGI will provide the necessary physical and social infrastructure including port facilities, education and health facilities, and modern settlements with leisure and recreation facilities.
